History
Exercise isn't just physical movement; it's the heartbeat of our spirit, the echo of our determination, and the song of our soul. Every step, every deep breath, brings us a little closer to our best version, connects us with the strength within us, and reminds us that we are capable of more than we know.
Exercise not only transforms our bodies, but also nourishes our minds and uplifts our hearts. It teaches us perseverance when our muscles burn and our breath quickens, and it gives us the gratification of surpassing our own limits. In each session of sweat and sacrifice, we discover the power of discipline and the beauty of self-improvement—that divine potential bestowed upon us by God when He created us.
Gymhawk is born from the ashes, in a bitter, dark moment, full of disappointment and helplessness for having made wrong decisions that only brought tribulations and storms, killing the hope of being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel again.
My name is Moises Peregrina, a 24-year-old boy born in Mexico. I started my fitness journey at 13 years old, when I was in high school. I remember the first time I lifted a weight and did a few repetitions inside a warehouse where there was gym equipment. Some neighbors gave me permission to use it in exchange for cleaning the warehouse where they had some furniture lying around, covered in dust. I agreed, and when I finished, I asked if they would let me go home to exercise in the afternoons after school. As the days went by, my muscles hurt, and I didn't know why. So, I did a little research and discovered that the pain was normal due to the strain and tension in my muscles caused by doing weightlifting repetitions when the muscles weren't used to physical exertion or were in a state of prolonged rest. [...the pain felt great]. I knew I just had to adapt to the change, and if I kept going, I could achieve my goals. I realized then that exercise would be a part of me for the rest of my life.
Without a doubt, health is the most valuable thing you can count on. Without it, you wouldn't be able to enjoy the little things in life, the short time we spend on this earth before we leave.
I thank God for the little and much I have, for all the experiences he has given me, and for all the people he has put in my path who have taught me great life lessons that have helped me grow as a person, as a student, as a son, as a brother, as a friend.
The year 2023 was a whirlwind of emotions. All my results were contrary to my goals. That year, I made decisions that went against my principles and the values my mother lovingly and diligently taught me for many years. I had a motorcycle accident, I was fired from my job, I applied for a bank loan to open a business that failed in just two months, and a project to sell imported auto parts for motorcycles and sports cars remained a mere dream due to a lack of capital, hence the name 'Peregrina Motors Company'. I ended up with unpayable debts and was away from the gym for many months.
Lying in bed, filled with pain from not having achieved good results, I then remembered what I learned 11 years ago after working out in a small gym for the first time. That same concept of pain applies to life: we just have to adapt to change. I understood then that God's ways are incomprehensible to us humans and that without all the difficulties and adversities He places in our lives, we would never be able to realize the things we could accomplish if we didn't have the courage to get back up and never give up. I also know that if we trust in Him, understand what He wants for us, there will be nothing impossible that we cannot accomplish.
